During the 16th and 17th of November SIGMA Gestión Universitaria has taken part in the RS3G Meeting held in the unique atmosphere of the University of Uppsala (Sweden), the oldest university in Scandinavia (founded in 1477). The main aim of this meeting, as expressed in its slogan “From IDea to Action”, is to set up a working plan for the next steps of the Mobility Project “Web-services for exchange of data on cooperation and mobility between higher education institutions”, started by the university consortiums Muci (Poland) and Cineca (Italy), and to involve additional vendors in the project. The first day of the meeting was focused in the Mobility Project, with Muci presenting an update on the current status of the project in order to define the workgroups needed and the next steps to take. SIGMA Gestión Universitaria expressed its commitment with the project and its readiness to develop the software components required for the project being included in the WSDL Working Group as well as other vendors like MUCI (Poland), KION (Italy), QS Unisolution (Germany), Ladok (Sweden), OODI (Finland), HIS (Germany), FS (Norway). The next milestone is set on the next RS3G workshop, to be held in Valencia in March as a joint with TERENA Task Force (TF-EMC2) who will bring the identification issue to the project. The following steps will be to present the update on the project at EUNIS 2010 in Warsaw (June 2010) and the user scenarios at EAIE 2010 in Nantes (September 2010). The second day was an RS3G workshop where there were treated general issues of Mobility and his relation to Student Information Systems (SIS) like the Europass Mobility System (EMS), being developed by the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP), the current state of the Metadata for Learning Opportunities (MLO) project, the issue of Identity and Access Management in European Higher Education or the current situation of the RS3G liaisons with other entities. SIGMA sees in this project an opportunity to improve the daily work of the users of his mobility system making it easier and faster.
