Wednesday, 20 January 2010 12:54

On 13 and 14 January 2010 a meeting of the European Higher Education Area Committee was held. The meeting took place on the Leganés Campus of the Carlos III de Madrid University.

During the days of the meeting there were presentations by delegates of the activities carried out in 2009 in the EHEA are of SIGMA, as well as a forecast of activities in this field for 2010 which accounts for a major part of the budget approved for new developments this year. Following the presentations there was a discussion of the amplification of procedures for credit recognition and transfer, which was the main aim of the meeting. Special consideration was given to its integration within the processes of registration and payments for recognised credits. It was decided to hold a further meeting of the EHEA Committee on 16 and 17 March 2010 at the University of Valladolid.

At the close of the meeting a need was identified to define the group of universities that would lead the definition of requirements for the management project for the Degree Final Projects and Company Work Placements. Several universities showed their interest in being members of this group; some universities have yet to confirm their interest. Delegates were called to hold a preliminary working group meeting on this subject on 16 and 17 February at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
